Bordo

Deutsch (DE-CH-AT)English (United Kingdom)Italian (Italy)

At the beginning of the 80ties Bordo was overgrown by shrubs and trees; a village abandoned for decades. Then some young and idealistic Swiss and Germans discovered it for themselves and made the buildings habitable again. With much effort and love they renovated the buildings and lived together following their own rhythm. A vivid community life arose. There were families with many children and they organized an own village school. Gradually they bought the houses and land from the benevolent Italian owners. Since the beginning of the 21st century most residents have returned to the countries of their origin. Now it is time for the village comunity of Bordo to take a new path, still maintaining its vision: "Bordo is a place for the training of heart and mind, following the teachings of Buddha, which serves all sentient beings".

Here an aerial of Bordo, so that you can get an idea of the size of the village. About twenty of the 25 houses of the village belong the the Bordo comunity. The others have Italian owners who use their homes on weekends or for holidays.
